About Me

After graduating with his PhD in Pharmacology and Toxicology from The University of Texas at Austin, Shayne Gad embarked on a career in the biotechnology, toxicology, and chemical and consumer product testing industries. He joined the United States Navy during his time as a high school student, and was commissioned at graduation from college. His period of active duty ended in 1974, though he remained active in the Navy Reserve until retirement in December, 1994.

Shayne Gad accepted a position with the Union Carbide Corporation toxicology laboratory in 1977 as the Group Leader for Inhalation and Neurotoxicology, which he fulfilled for two years. During his time here, he offered his statistical consulting experience to the company, and he also designed assessment systems that detected the toxicity levels of polymer thermal decomposition products and for evaluating the neurotoxic and neuropharmacologic effects of drugs and chemicals, the FOB . Shayne Gad personally developed the equipment, personnel, and protocol for this system.

Later, after a year-long stint as the Supervisor of Inhalation and Neurotoxicology for the Shell Global Solutions Development Lab, Shayne Gad became the Manager of Mammalian Toxicology for Allied Corporation. He supervised the entire Department of Toxicology’s laboratory, which included overseeing 26 staff members and external contract testing as well as participating in in-house testing initiatives. Shayne Gad maintained duties in this role for six years before becoming the Director of Toxicology for G.D. Searle & Company, acting as the project team leader for the development of biotechnology-derived pharmaceutical products. As the Director of Toxicology, Shayne Gad held responsibility for the $1.94 million operating budget as well as a contract budget. He was also accountable for the health effects and product safety and toxicity testing regarding reproductive, chronic, subchronic, reproductive, developmental, genetic toxicity (for canines and primates), and subacute effects.

Shayne Gad founded Gad Consulting Services in 1994 and serves as it´s Principal. Carolina, a firm with a staff of 5 that he has operated since 1994. Some examples of his responsibilities here include statistical and clinical study support services to various clients in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical deviceand several other industries.
