About Me

Dr. Sean Keem of metropolitan Atlanta, Georgia, uses advanced surgical techniques to treat patients with spinal problems. At Keem Spine Institute, P.C., his practice with office locations including Lawrenceville and Johns Creek, Dr. Keem performs more than 300 spinal surgeries each year. Dr. Sean Keem treats degenerative conditions, scoliosis, and acute spine injuries on a regular basis. He also works to educate other doctors about new methods in spinal surgery and is a pioneer in minimally invasive spinal surgical techniques in metropolitan Atlanta.

Dr. Keem earned his B.A. in Biology and Genetic Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara. A member of The Phi Beta Kappa Society, he graduated with highest honors and went on to earn his M.D. from the University of California, San Diego, School of Medicine. After finishing a residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, where he served as Chief Resident, Dr. Sean Keem completed a fellowship in spinal surgery with Lakewood Orthopedic Clinic, St. Anthony Hospital, The Children’s Hospital, Swedish Medical Center, and Craig Hospital in Denver, Colorado.

Today, Dr. Keem is one of Georgia’s most experienced spinal surgeons. In 2005, an Atlanta television channel highlighted him as the first surgeon in Georgia to perform an artificial disc replacement. More recently, a number of local papers have mentioned his work with injured U.S. Army Rangers. Dr. Sean Keem has also presented to the American Medical Association concerning the benefits of minimally invasive Extreme Lateral Interbody Fusion (XLIF) surgery. His past patients praise Dr. Sean Keem for his kindness and attention to detail and credit his surgical techniques with helping them reclaim their lives.
