Randy Blum

When Randy Blum created his online virtual tourist service in 2001, Blum Virtual Travel was the first of its kind to bring the world to individuals wishing to see more than their income could provide. Based in Los Angeles, California, Blum thinks globally, and considers access to the world to be an important right all people should be able to enjoy. Randy Blum has a tremendous personal interest in travel, including a large collection of information about different areas in various books and films. In addition, Blum belongs to a number of travel and business associations around North America, Australia, and Europe. Through these materials and affiliations, he is able to meet the direct needs of his clients and gain valuable knowledge about the established physical and growing virtual tourism industries. He also gleans statistical and analytical information about tourism trends through these organizations. By translating the more traditional methods of guiding individuals through notable places into a realistic Internet format, Blum provides a service that is free for all who choose to enjoy it. The associations also provide some of Randy Blum’s clientele, as he shares with them the benefits of traveling without having to pay for airfare and lodging. His commitment to donating to Doctors Without Borders also demonstrates Randy Blum’s global-mindedness. Through his and other contributors’ efforts, the nonprofit humanitarian organization flies doctors from countries around the world to areas in need of medical attention. Especially in war-torn areas and places stricken with poverty and epidemics, Doctors Without Borders provides medical care to people who often do not have access to it, care that not only enriches their lives but often saves them. In many highly developed countries, individuals see health care as a basic right, but this is not always the case around the world. Through his interest in learning about countries outside of the United States, Randy Blum has grown to understand how much of an impact Doctors Without Borders can have on individuals.
