Businessman Daniel E. Straus commands extensive experience in several professional sectors. A graduate of the New York University School of Law, Daniel E. Straus entered the workforce as an attorney for Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP. Daniel E. Straus practiced corporate law with the firm for three years before joining his brother in running their father's business.

As part of a collaboration to build on his father's legacy in the assisted living field, Daniel E. Straus co-founded MultiCare Companies, Inc. with his brother, who had been running the original three homes in the first years following their father's passing. Over the next decade, Daniel E. Straus and his brother led several successful expansions until the company grew to include 18,000 employees at 175 locations. Daniel E. Straus' company went public in 1993 and was sold in 1997.

Two years later, Daniel E. Straus established CareOne, an assisted living organization for senior citizens. Along with Care Realty LLC, CareOne operates under the umbrella of Daniel E. Straus' private investment firm, The Straus Group. Maintaining substantial involvement in the companies funded by his firm, Daniel E. Straus has acted as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of many of those businesses.

In 2003, Daniel E. Straus co-founded Aveta Inc., a Medicare Advantage company concerned with the health needs of chronically ill patients. Since Aveta Inc.'s launch, Daniel E. Straus has served as Chairman. Starting in 2006, Daniel E. Straus has also functioned as the company's Chief Executive Officer.

Aside from his professional commitments, Daniel E. Straus is dedicated to sharing his resources with the community via philanthropic enterprises. Daniel E. Straus and his wife Joyce gifted a substantial donation to the New York University School of Law for the implementation and operation of The Joseph and Gwendolyn Straus Institute for the Advanced Study of Law & Justice.
