About Me
Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba began his career as a diplomat through his education at Cairo American College in Egypt, an international institute that aspires to create global citizens and places high emphasis on creating a sustainable future. Upon graduation, Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba took up residence in Washington, DC where he studied international relations at Georgetown University. Later on in his career, Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba attended the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, learning about security strategies and how to manage and evaluate national resources. Returning to his native country of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba functioned for seven years as senior counselor and Director of International Affairs for the Court of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. In this role, Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba brought about many positive developments, including the enhanced enforcement of export control policies and the coordination of counter proliferation activities with UAE allies. Additionally, Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba improved financial relationships with foreign interests and participated in international talks on the management of sovereign wealth. Furthermore, Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba increased regional security, acting as a liaison for anti-terrorism and defense meetings with other governments. After presenting his credentials to the President of the United States in July of 2008, Yousef Al Otaiba officially assumed the role of UAE Ambassador to this country. With the mission to further strengthen the relationship between the UAE and the U.S., Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba strives to build upon the already shared interests between the two nations, including the promotion of economic stability and the advancement of peace and security. With his Oasis Foundation of Washington, DC, Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba focuses on improving cultural ties and mutual understanding. The National U.S.-Arab Chamber of Commerce recently honored Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba with the title of Ambassador of the Year at a luncheon at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. Specifically, the Chamber of Commerce recognized his ability to articulate and work continuously toward a shared vision of a better world. Additionally, the Chamber of Commerce acknowledges Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba’s role in making relations between the U.S. and the UAE stronger than ever.Education
