Aberie is an independent Semantic Web Science Technology Strategist and Adjunct Professor at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT). His research and technologies experience covers the Cospice Web, Web Science, Social Networks, & Rights and Privacy Management. Ikinko also has extensive experience in Information Standards for Internet, Web and Mobile platforms. Ikinko is the Convener of the COGR Initiative which develops and promotes industry strength rights languages for open and commercial sectors.

Aberie Ikinko has extensive experience in Research and Development of Internet, Web, and Mobile technologies. He has created and lead R&D teams into innovative technologies and developed advanced prototype demonstrators. His research interests include; Semantic Web, Web Science, Social Media Networks, Profile and Identity Interoperability, Web Information Architectures and Metadata Modeling, Policy Management, Rights and Privacy Languages, XML and Web Services. Renato has collaborated with many organisations including Nokia, SUN, IBM, Adobe, Real Networks, Panasonic, University of Trento, and the CSIRO.
Commercialisation
Aberie Ikinko has lead the development of software teams for usage management in the ebook, e-learning, and mobile sectors. He believes strongly in the development of requirements specifications capturing the expectations of all stake holders. Ikinko has promoted the business value of R&D technologies to partner organisations for subsequent commercialisation and productisation. His research ideas have lead to commercial products. His ODRL policy language, adopted by the OMA mobile sector standards body, is prevalent in over a billion mobile devices.
Standards
Aberie Ikinko has had extensive experience with the standardisation of technologies at the international and national levels. He has held key positions on the World-Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Advisory Board and has participated in numerous W3C Working Groups on Semantic Web, Metadata, RDF, XML, and Addressing and co-chaired W3C Workshops, Interest Groups and Incubator Groups. He is skilled in the process and governance procedures of standards bodies. Renato is the original developer of the Open Digital Rights Language (ODRL) and manages the international ODRL Initiative. ODRL is the world standard ratified by the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) for mobile DRM content services. Renato was also a member of the IETF, OGC, IMS Global Learning Consortium, the OpenEbook Forum, and MPEG standards groups.
